Today was just a horrid display of hockey. Anyone think Marty will demand to play tomorrow?
If he does, I gotta say it — he’s selfish. I’m sorry, but Sunday is Clemmensen’s time to shine, and after what happened today, Marty really needs a break. He didn’t play bad by any stretch, but he just needs a break. One game won’t kill him.
The Devils were simply outplayed today. Outplayed BAD. Of course, after the emotional highs of the Rangers series, this was somewhat to be expected, but regardless, I think not having Brian Gionta in the lineup is really starting to kill them. They have no punch out there, playing a helluva lackluster game right now. I can’t wait for Rochester’s finest to lace ‘em up again, without a damn doubt.
So, at least a positive from this game is that Cammie J scored a pretty nice goal, first of his career no less. Congrats Cam, too bad the boys couldn’t get you a W along with that G! And hey, Jammin’ Jan also had a fight to boot. He was a mere assist away from a Gordie Howe Hat! How great that would have been…
We move on to tomorrow. It’s not a must-win for the Devils, but it’s a better-win. Give Marty the day off and maybe throw Dowd back in the lineup. And hey, let’s PRAY that Gionta will be healthy enough to don the red and black on Sunday for New Jersey.
