Simon sits in the corner indefinitely
Posted by Patricia Greuter under In Other News... , RAD BRAD LUKOWICH
Chris Simon has been given Time Out indefinitely by the NHL, as the league now must figure out what to do with Dumbass Simon after his lumberjack swing at Ryan Hollweg’s (baseball) head.
Better yet, Dumbass doesn’t get any pay in the meantime. Guess he’ll have to shave his own head for the time being…
So, another black eye for the NHL. Gotta love the McSorleys, Niedermayers, Domis, Bertuzzis, and now, the Simons, eh?
Granted, Ryan Hollweg is as annoying as any other punk NHL player, but, well, common sense says you just don’t do that, Mr. Simon. Guess Dumbass lacks common sense.
If there’s justice, Simon will sit in the corner for the rest of the season, and if the Islanders happen to make the playoffs, he should at least be done for a round. And if the Isles don’t make the postseason, Long Island can take a collective poop on Dumbass because thanks in large part to HIM, the team failed yet again.
…no word on any action towards Colby Armstrong, who as we remember, threw a viscious elbow at Brad Lukowich. Poor Rad Brad ended up having to stay overnight at a local Pittsburgh hospital for observation over a probable concussion. Last time I checked, throwing elbows warranted at LEAST a penalty. Apparently this is not the case in the “new” NHL…le sigh.

Elbows have never been assessed properly by the league. This is one of the issues I have with this pansy league which wants to enforce every tug but will look the other way sometimes on elbows, slashes and even high sticks.
What’s more dangerous? Well duh!
Simon should be done for the entire season. He committed a moronic act which even could’ve killed Hollweg. And why? Because he couldn’t stand what was a legal check from the side against the boards as he played the puck. That’s part of the game.
Unfortunately, Chris didn’t think before reacting. And he looked pretty darn distraught in the locker room last night on TV afterwards. Well, I’m sure he regrets it. But hey buddy. You owe Hollweg a phone call. That was inexcusable.
The bigger question is when will the league also penalize stars when they break the law? Ovechkin and Briere should’ve been suspended. But neither was. When does this corporate influenced league stop being hypocrites?

First, I’d like to say that a retaliatory stick to the face is a stupid move on Simon and he deserves whatever punishment he gets. My take on the play is that while it may have been a legal hit from Hollweg, it was a bushleague check at best. Simon’s back was mostly turned away from Hollweg and instead of crunching Simon into the boards, Hollweg was happy to throw him face first. Apparently, Simon suffered a concussion from the hit and was clearly dazed; had Hollweg finished his check properly, this probably wouldn’t have happened. While Simon is a retaliator, I doubt he would’ve used his stick had Hollweg finished his check like he was supposed to. That’s why we have a boarding call in the first place. I don’t condone Simon’s act, but I wanted to point out that this probably could’ve been avoided had Hollweg not tried to injure Simon with a dangerous check like that.
