2 MAN ADVANTAGE’S TIP OF THE DAY #6: If you want a lot of money, go to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Scott Hartnell and Kimmo Timonen sure cashed in big time, packing their bags and saying sayonara to the relocation-ready Predators and heading east to the Forsberg-less Flyers.
Oh, and in the process, Hartnell racked up a 6-year deal worth $25.2 mill and Timonen brought in a heafty 6-year, $37.8 mill contract.
That ain’t chump change, folks.

The Flyers gave up a lot of money, but considering how little they gave up to negotiate and sign these two guys, and how they made some good trades at the deadline, I expect them to be a much better team next year. I will even go as far as saying they will make the playoffs.
Poor Nashville fans, but I bet the fans in Hamilton are rejoicing over the rebuilding process.

And here I thought Bobby Clarke stepped down as GM.

I love that they got ridiculous contracts, but I fear this team next season…and I will admit, seeing Scott Niedermayer retire in the middle of his contract with the Ducks would make me smile, especially if it happened near the end of free agency. Karma much?
…although I wouldn’t be surprised if then they somehow snatched Brian Rafalski. …karma much.

I think Timonen is a really solid defensemen, but that much money for Scott Hartnell? Did I miss something here? Did he develop 25+ goal scoring ability or something (I know he did it one season but that was just 25 goals in one season)? Playmaking ability? Can someone explain the logic of such a contract for Scott Hartnell?
If Hartnell is pulling $4.2 million/year (!!!!) for 40 pt. seasons; how much is Gomez then worth? Just mind-boggling.

Overpaid. The end.
