Just a couple tid-bits to cover, so let’s get the show on the road.
CORRENTE RETURNED TO JUNIOR
2006 first-round-pick Matthew Corrente was returned to his junior team, the Mississauga Ice Dogs of the OHL. While the lad did have an impressive camp, he was ineligible to play for the Baby Devils, so it was Big Boys or Bust.
Give him another year or two — the kid’s got talent. We’ll see him in black and red soon enough.
NUMBERS GAME
With the finishing touches being made to the roster, some players have been given new numbers. Among those assigned new digits include Kevin Weekes (1), Niklas Bergfors (12), David Clarkson (23), Rod Pelley (10), and Mike Mottau (27).
WHITE MAY HIT LONG-TERM IR
Tom Gulitti is reporting that Louie Lams has not made a final decision regarding the eye of Colin White. The anger lovin’ defender took a puck to the face during a September 19th practice, breaking his nose and damaging his eye. While Lamoriello has admitted to damage to the eye, he maintains the severity of White’s injury is still unknown.
DEVILS ICE ISLES 2-1
Black ‘n red finished out the pre-season with 2-1 win over the New York Islanders, bringing their overall record to a respectable 4-2. Zach Parise and Dainius Zubrus netted goals for the Devils while Martin Brodeur made 20 saves in the affair. Kip Brennan netted the lone Islanders goal.

Poor Clarkson, I thought his number was 27?

He wasn’t given an automatic spot on the roster coming into camp — he was assigned #48.

Thank goodness Clarkson made the team, we need more guys like him.

Corrente plays for the Niagra Ice Dogs now.
I am really starting to get worried about this White situation. I really hope I am just over reacting and this turns out to be nothing.

Hey Tricia, the Ledger is reporting Gionta scored the other goal. Not Zubrus. Not a big deal, as long as someone’s putting the puck in the back of the net, I don’t care who it is.
Beyond pissed. Have a business dinner on Thursday night so I will miss the opener. Watching it on DVR isn’t quite the same.

Ignore my last comment, he does play for Niagara but that is because the Mississauga team moved. I should have realized that is why the team has the same name, my bad.

White does have eye damage, it’s just a matter of how much, and how permanent, it looks like He’s indefinately out until the swelling goes down, once it does they can determine the extent of the damage, maybe He will be back when Langs comes back, We may tease Him about His temper but He’s still our Big Beast on D. Cam either had surgery on Thursday or will have surgery this thursday. 4w and 2 L is not bad with shortened injury filled roster, if Patty does not get the C back I also think that Pando with make an excellent candidate.

patty is a leader thru and thru. he plays as hard as he can every game. last season was a fluke, although he still led the team in points. it was hard watching him get all those bad breaks the entire season. i cant even think of anyone more deserving of the C.
