CAL GETS DAVID HALE and 2007 5TH PICK
NJD GETS 2007 3RD PICK
PATRICIA SAYS: I’ve been calling this one for weeks now, maybe even months. Hale fell out of favor with New Jersey after Baby Devil d-man Andy Greene found himself playing rather well with the big boys. Purely a cap move, this deal likely sets up for Greene to make a permanent return with the Big Devils. Do we dare see Richard Matvichuk finally return?

great job with the site keep up the good work
February 26th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
Hey guys! Just wanted to tell ya I interviewed Brodeur and Parise a few days ago at MSG, check out Sportsday in a day or two!
February 26th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
I had an interview with the Puck Podcast crew out here…at the Ducks game last night and they think there is a rumbling of a Berard under the Christmas tree…stay tuned.
February 26th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
More like a lump of coal
What do the Ducks need with Berard anyway, they have Nieds, Pronger and the immortal Ric Jacman to play on the PP?
February 27th, 2007 at 1:04 am
Berard? Why? Do the Ducks really need to get softer on their blueline? They already messed up by trading O’Brien to Tampa. The Lightning might be thanking them later this Spring.
Great job with the site guys! Looks really good.
February 27th, 2007 at 2:42 pm
you guys have no talent at this and you both are not attractive…just kidding i think the oppisite…i’m jealous. keep up the good work, you have the best site ever.
February 27th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
Great site, better and more efficiant than Hockeytraderumors.com and that retard Ekuland and his site…..very impressed with the look and how accurate it is….sad the isles didnt get rid of blake but way to go great site…its now my official site for hockey
February 27th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
Great job.. but what about the Hale to Calgary rumors we keep hearing??
February 27th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
Holy crap there were a lot of deals today after all. Stupid useless local radio only had the Ranger and Isle deals, plus they deigned to mention Guerin in one or two updates, so I was wondering what I was in the dark on. Kudos to this site, a nice cliff-notes on the day’s activities.
February 27th, 2007 at 4:03 pm
Just an update for you on the Dupuis trade:
The Rangers got back F Alex Bourret and a 3rd round pick. That’s a steal but is consistent with how Atlanta has overpaid for everyone.
Nice job guys!
February 27th, 2007 at 4:14 pm
Great job, and great site. Loved being here today. I’ll be back, too. Keep up the great work.
February 27th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
man there’s been a lot of trades today!!!
i cant believe hale (might be/is) gone!!!
February 27th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
red i heard the trade was hale for freisen.
jk
February 27th, 2007 at 4:21 pm
shark I think i blew up NJDEVS with my reponse to you!!
February 27th, 2007 at 4:23 pm
Crap, so it’s not just me? NJDevs really did blow up? Just as I was about to put it into super-hardcore survival mode too…
February 27th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
Yeah i think news of hale being traded has caused it to be swamped with devs/flames/hardcore fans looking up info
February 27th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
Rowdy you jinxed us!!!
February 27th, 2007 at 4:30 pm
As we know how Lou thinks, it would be completely logical for Friesen to be who is coming back. However, unless I am missing something - or this trade is more complicated than a one-for-one - then there is no way Lou found $1.05 million (the difference in salaries) lying around.
Unless he managed to get $500k from a retroactive Gionta LTI.
February 27th, 2007 at 4:31 pm
Damn near every hockey website is getting annihilated. Only Yahoo’s hockey page has survived unscathed all day.
February 27th, 2007 at 4:33 pm
Thanks for checking out 2man for trade updates, everyone. It’s great to know you see us as a solid site.
We’re not done yet!
February 27th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
so hale’s gone and we get a 3rd round pick…
maybe matvichuk wil be back soon?
February 27th, 2007 at 5:01 pm
Well, that’s the crux of it. Hale was a square peg in a round hole at this point. Matvichuk is ready and the Devils have Brooks and Greene ready to be the 7th man, so Hale was to be wasted.
Hale’s $550,000 is now off the ledger. I am still trying to figure out where Lou is going to get the rest of the money for Matvichuk from.
February 27th, 2007 at 5:09 pm
When is Brooks due to come back? I remember he had the broken foot.
February 27th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
brooks should be back in the middle/end of march.
apparently it takes like 8 weeks for a fractued foot to heal so he shouldnt be gone too much longer.
February 27th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
he can get the money by putting gionta on ltir retroactively.
February 27th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
I’m not so sure Brooks will be around, then, he’ll likely need conditioning in Lowell and it’s better off just to leave him there if it sets up for Greene and Matvichuk to return.
February 27th, 2007 at 6:05 pm
So… who have we called up tonight????
Greene and/or Fraser will likely fill Hale’s role for now. Brooksie is slowly workin back to 100%; obviously he’ll get some work in Lowell. Matvi… we will see how everything pans out IF he’s better. Maybe a few games in Lowell for conditioning purposes and then go from there. I’d like to see him get some regular season games in before the playoffs with the Devs. Definitely need some slack picked up in the D department.
I’ll have the roast penguin with mango salsa!
GO DEVS!
February 27th, 2007 at 11:14 pm
Great, great, GREAT job summing up all the trades. I’m sure you’ve heard that quite a bit already and I’m also sure you wouldn’t mind more accolades. Thank you both for doing this.
Incidentally, I think the Hale deal has Andy Greene take the #6 spot. He played tonight against Pittsburgh and it’s my understanding Greene would have been on the team from day 1 if it weren’t for the salary cap.
February 28th, 2007 at 12:13 am
You know I love you guys. I followed the whole frenetic day on my page and it was chaotic trying to keep track. I know how much hard work and dedication you both put in.
Outstanding job with everything and keep up the good work! It’s very appreciated by many puck fans.
February 28th, 2007 at 12:36 am
Well done RD!
I didn’t even bother going to the tsn site.
February 28th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
great job with the trade updates.
i agree about greene.he was playing really well last night (not that he doesnt always), like he knew last night would kind of decide weather he would stick with the big guys for the rest of the season.
but did anyone else notice on the roster on the devils site says both greene and brooks are number 8?
