Just who are these crazy knuckleheads?
Welcome to our world. We are completely obsessed with the New Jersey Devils. We bleed black and red. And we have nothing better to do than rant and rave about our boys. We may be hard to please, but that’s okay, we’re Devils fans, and we hate your favorite team…unless your favorite team happens to be our favorite team. You’re cool in that case.
Meet Patricia, Joe, Josh, Steve, and Scott. We’re all amazingly awesome. We all have something to say, and you better believe we’re going to say it. We don’t shy from yelling at the boys when they’re not getting the job done, and we’re the first ones to pat each and every Devil on the back when they make us proud. And you know what? That’s a whole lot of pattin’, cause our boys make us proud quite often.
It’s great being a Devils fan.
PATRICIA GREUTER, EDITOR/GRAPHICS MAKER
Patricia loves hockey. Absolutely loves it. Every moment of it. Seriously. It’s great.
A former journalism student, Patricia, 23, is currently pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. Don’t get her wrong though, she still loves writing about hockey and don’t you worry — she has a lot to say!
A hockey fan since early childhood, Ms. Greuter probably knows more about the game than some of the players themselves!
____
JOE BECHTEL, ASS KICKER/ANALOGY GENERATOR
Just because Joe isn’t from New Jersey doesn’t mean he’s not a big Devils fan.
Heck, this 22-year-old Devils fan has probably been to more games than you, and he lives a solid hour and a half from the arena! Is that dedication or what?
An aspiring sports broadcaster, this budding writer has been a hockey fan his entire life. I dare you to find a bigger fan than Mr. Bechtel.
You won’t be able to do so, my friends.
Seriously.
____
JOSH BURNETT, CAPPER/ALL AROUND GREAT GUY…er.
Josh, 25, is a big hockey fan.
Do you really need to know more than that? Ha-ha.
Currently a broadcast journalism student, Mr. Burnett is an aspiring columnist, unfortunately claimed as a slave to the retail world. He pleads for anyone to visit him at his store and talk hockey. Really.
Josh is the son of a Rangers fan, which can make for some interesting conversations come playoff time. Ouch.
____
STEVE STIRLING, CAPPER/THE NEW GUY…er.
Steve’s first memory of Devils hockey was Valeri Zelepukin’s last-second game-tying goal in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, and he has lived and breathed it ever since.
A Jersey boy through and through, Steve cut his teeth in the hockey world playing competitive roller hockey out of Somerville through most of his teenage years while boning up on any piece of useless Devils trivia that came his way. Now 24, he lives in the shadow of Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, routinely fending off Rangers fans as he slogs his way to and from his job as a staff reporter in Queens.
SCOTT MACKIE, CONTRIBUTER
By day, Mackie, 35, is the owner of his own IT business, MS-I Consulting (link opens in new window), but once darkness falls, the infamous CRASHER comes to life. Scott “CRASHER” Mackie has been part of the Black ‘n Red web scene for many years, writing hilarious-yet-brutally-honest recaps of Devils games for the website CRASHERLINE.net (new window), which he has hosted since 1995 (!!!)
Mackie also enjoys playing street hockey, watching wrestling and football, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
