UPDATE 2: While Bob McKenzie had previously downplayed Colin White’s eye injury, Rich Chere is today reporting that White not only suffered a laceration above the eye, but a badly broken nose as well. White, who underwent plastic surgery Wednesday night to fix his nose is still expected to be sidelined for about two weeks.
UPDATE: Bob McKenzie is reporting that Colin White is expected to miss up to two weeks after taking a puck to the eye during practice on Wednesday. While Devils GM Lou Lamoriello stated White did not suffer any serious sight issues or facial fractures, it is unknown if White will be ready for opening night action.
Well, today sucked.
It has been announced that Jamie Langenbrunner will indeed undergo surgery on Thursday to repair his ailing groin, while Cam Janssen is also set to go under the knife for a dislocated shoulder suffered in a preseason scrap against Philadelphia’s Jesse Boulerice.
Janssen previously missed 11 games last season with the same injury.
Oh, and Mr. Anger Management (Colin White) took a puck to the eye during practice today. White suffered a laceration above the eye, but he will be re-assessed tomorrow once the swelling around his eye has subsided.
Preseason is stupid.

Let me be the first to request that Sarge not be plugged into Jamie’s spot. Just because he is capable, does not make him a proper fit. This may be the perfect opportunity for Clarkson or Bergfors to get some quality ice time. Clarkson definately earned it at the end of last year by steamrolling everything in sight. But besides them, who else fits? Rupp proved last year he’s nothing more than a 4th liner.

Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

agreed that neither Brylin nor Rupp should play anywhere higher than the 3rd line. Give Clarkson a shot with Zags and Parise. Also, from the lines in practice, it looks like Bergfors is getting a long look by the coaching staff, starting off with Rupp and Brylin
Hopefully Whitey’s injury isn’t too serious, but if he’s to miss a bunch of time, maybe Corrente will get a shot. If not, Danny Markov is still out there on the market

In other news, Sykora needs his nose realigned. Apparently he broke it by running into his own defenseman. Ooopsy.
Is this a rough preseason or what?

They’re probably going to give Bergfors a shot on the 4th line and move Clarkson up to the 2nd line. The kid line (Parise, Zajak, CLarkson) is great. All young guys and they’re good. Clarkson can create a ton of room for T-funk and Zack to go to town.
Then if Clarkson needs to drop the gloves, they can move Bergfors up to the second line to skate. Kinda a win-win in my book.
Having Colin go down won’t be long term, maybe a few days. However this gives another young defenseman a chance to step up and fill a big spot. Get him some experience and then when Colin comes back, we’ll at least know we have another dude that can step right in if something else happens.

off-topic, but anyone see that the Canucks gave Dan McGillis an invite to camp. Did the Devils send him off to the AHL because he was too slow ?

The “kid line” sounds nice, but it breaks my heart to have to see ZZpop broken up. Hopefully when Jamie gets better everything will be ok.
Get well soon Jamie. Cam too.
Hope Colin isn’t in too much pain.

I’m pretty sure that Magillis was sent down because He could not hang in the “new” NHL He was too slow, and His best defensive maneuver was to throw the opposing player on top of Marty, sooner or later He was going to get Marty killed, He also took alot of stupid penalties, because He was always one step behind the play. He also was getting paid over 2 mil to be a liability and Lou was in cap trouble.Like I said last night on My post I’m not too happy with this Pre season so far, because of these injuries, and with any luck the Boys will be back in action soon.

Devils beat Boston 3-0…
Clarkson got in a fight and was bleeding, he seem ok though.
I don’t think Cam had surgery yet and Colin is “ok” as Lou put it. -_-

Let’s not forget that Mr. Future Devil Clarkson, left today’s game after a fight where he ended up bleeding from the temple. I’m no doctor but that doesn’t sound too good, hopefully it’s just a booboo.

That’s the last thing I wanted to hear. Just perfect ;_;

WTF!?!?!?!
Screw preseason games.
How/when did Jamie get his hernia anyway? I don’t think I heard anything about it until camp opened.

Kelly –
Jamie did not have a sports hernia. He did undergo successful surgery yesterday, but we don’t know at this point how long he may be out. Early indications point to two months.
He had originally hurt the groin last February, but skated through it anyway and hoped the injury would heal itself during the offseason. Apparently, that was not the case.
