9:38 PM ET: And that’s the game! 6-2 Devils and Marty wins #500! Pretty great game all around. More of these would be amazing guys. Really. Keep it up and we’ll be happy, stress-free people.
Goodnight gang and thanks for keeping it here at 2MA!
9:37 PM ET: Frustration is a funny thing, Cote trying to goad Greene. Nothing doing.
9:34 PM ET: 2:18 to go to Marty’s 500th career win.
9:31 PM ET: Lotsa things are going right tonight. Penalty time is up again, that’s 7-of-7 kills on the night. Huzzah!
9:28 PM ET: Yet another Devs penalty. Vish for hooking. PK unit on the ice again.
9:22 PM ET: Langs out of the box. Devs have killed all six penalties.
9:18 PM ET: HOLY GOD WHAT A SAVE! Marty flies like Superman across the crease to rob Daniel Briere. Literally catches it like a diving shortstop to grab a line drive. That’s a highlight-reel stop for years to come.
9:16 PM ET: Sarge out of the box, Langs into the box. ‘nother Philly PP.
9:14 PM ET: Brodeur with a big glove save on the penalty kill. Something’s wrong with his mask and we get a little breather while they fix it and/or get a new mask.
9:09 PM ET: Flyers to the powerplay, hooking whistled on Sergei Brylin.
9:05 PM ET: And Parise with a goal of his own! I like it when we’re scoring. It aids in the winning process. 6-2 Devils.
9:04 PM ET: See? Gio listens to us. We say step it up, he steps it up. Weird little goal after Parise gets pulled down and it’s 5-2 Devils.
8:59 PM ET: Well that’s not good. Upshall is left alone in the slot and jabs it home. 4-2 Devils.
8:58 PM ET: Back for the third. Nittimaki in net for the Flyers. Rats.
8:41 PM ET: Second period is over and the Devs lead 4-1. Two very good periods, they’ve played a full forty minutes. You’re 2/3rds of the way there boys, finish strong!
8:40 PM ET: Jay Pandolfo leads the Devils with seven goals. Hot diggity.
8:38 PM ET: Super Jay! 4-1 Devils! Can we work out a system in which the Devils play Martin Biron every night?
8:37 PM ET: Thankfully Marty’s looking sharp tonight, the last few minutes could have been dangerous if Brodeur wasn’t on his game.
8:33 PM ET: Damn. Lots of Devils in front of the net kicking around a loose puck that Richards eventually gets to and puts over a sprawling Marty. 3-1 Devils.
8:31 PM ET: Brodeur with a good stop on a bouncing shot up close by Richards.
8:26 PM ET: Two big blasts by Rachunek on the power play. Karel has tasted offensive success, and it tastes sweet.
8:23 PM ET: Flyers take a hooking call and the Devs will be on the PP again.
8:21 PM ET: Either the kill is playing amazingly or the Flyers’ PP is just as woeful as the Devils. No PP shots as of yet for Philly with a half a minute to go on the double-minor.
8:16 PM ET: Some scrummy stuff again results in a penalty Karel Rachunek. Took Hartnell awhile to bleed but he is, so it’s a double-minor for high-sticking. Four minutes of kill time for the Devs.
8:10 PM ET: Madden to the box, Philly to the power play.
8:08 PM ET: YEAH PATTY! Big scrum in front and Patrik Elias stuffs home the rebound. 3-0 Devils. The most heartening thing here is that the boys are getting rebounds. That hasn’t been happening as of late.
8:04 PM ET: Good hit by Johnny Oduya. I still contend that all he wanted was some pizza & ice cream in exchange for good play.
8:02 PM ET: Period #2 is underway. Devils begin on the PP due to Upshall’s late penalty.
7:46 PM ET: Best period of Devils hockey in a very very long time. Be back in 17 minutes.
7:45 PM ET: Andy Greene with a very poor pass that nearly resulted in a Philly breakaway. But it didn’t.
7:42 PM ET: Lots of physical stuff from Philly, particularly Scottie Upshall. If they can’t score they’ll headhunt a little at least I suppose. Big open-ice hit on Gio. Towards the end of Upshall’s little reign of terror he draws a penalty for slashing and the Devils will head to the PP again.
7:38 PM ET: Devils playing suspisciously well so far tonight. I’m a little scared, honestly.
7:32 PM ET: HOLY KAREL RACHUNEK GOAL BATMAN! 2-0 Devils. Zubrus with the assist.
7:31 PM ET: Holy offensive opportunities Batman! Couple of nice chances for the Devils.
7:24 PM ET: WHOO! Dainus Zubrus with a rebound off the Andy Greene blast and it’s 1-0 Devils.
7:23 PM ET: God the power play sucks.
7:21 PM ET: ‘nother Philly penalty. Seven seconds of, pardon the plug, a 2 Man Advantage. Then back to the traditional man advantage.
7:19 PM ET: Mike Knuble’s in the box. Devils almost instantly give up a 2-on-1 rush. Shot wide. Yay-ish?
7:17 PM ET: Did I mention Rachunek’s penalty is over? It is. Now Philly’s been penalized. Devils on the PP. Be afraid.
7:15 PM ET: Marty Brodeur with a couple of early stops. 3-0 in terms of shots for Philly. A little pressure on the other Martin please, kids.
7:12 PM ET: My apologies everyone, it appears Olli Malmivaara may be up with the team tonight, but is NOT in the lineup. Rachunek in the box for a hook, Devils on the kill.
7:09 PM ET: I’m not liking that Olli Malms is up from Lowell, and yet Mottau and Rachunek are both still playing. Guess it’ll be seven defensemen tonight.
7:08 PM ET: Elias centering Gionta and Parise to start.
7:01 PM ET: Oh crap, Olli Malmivaara is back. Good for our defense, bad for my spell-check. Paul Martin did not make the trip, nor did Colin White.
6:53 PM ET: Rubber meets the rink in 10 minutes. Don’t move from that chair, the world-famous 2MA Livecap, cominatcha!

Rachunek is an all star, really.
November 17th, 2007 at 7:19 pm
Rachunek isn’t a NJ Devil, he just doesnt fit us in any way, I think Lou did one smart thing by only giving him a 1 year deal…I think 1 year???
November 17th, 2007 at 7:32 pm
I like that Rachunek !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 17th, 2007 at 7:32 pm

November 17th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
Solid start. So far they have played a full 20 minutes, 40 to go!
November 17th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
Enjoy it while it lasts, that’ll be one of what, 15 or 20 goals from the D this year.
Hopefully we can get the milestone win out of the way tonight, this is almost a make-or-break road trip.

If the Team plays like this more often, they can actually gets some (dare I say it) goals. It’s amazing what some real Ice can do for Ya too, all those games at The Rock I was starting to forget that the puck isin’t supposed to bounce all over the place.

Hold on to your hats, here comes the (yikes) second period.
November 17th, 2007 at 8:09 pm
Holy Snikey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 17th, 2007 at 9:06 pm
6-2
haha 2shots 2goals =-)
November 17th, 2007 at 9:27 pm
Call me when they play this way:
A) against a team other than the Flyers
B) for two or more games in a row
Probably their three best games of the year have all come against the Flyers, except Biron played very well in one of them and our Marty didn’t.
I still can’t believe Pandolfo’s the leading goal-scorer 1/4 of the way through the season.

can we just arrange a schedule where we play the flyers every day?
