Who would have thought?9:39 PM ET: The numbers: Eight wins in a row, Elias two goals and an assist, Parise two goals and two assists, BROOKBANK two assists. And most importantly, a win after being down 3-0. Hot damn.

Thanks everyone for checking us out! See ya next time!

9:36 PM ET: ELIAS! Drop pass by Parise and Elias stuffs it home through the legs of the defender and by Rask! Devils win, 4-3!

9:34 PM ET: Kobasew with a break but Martin with a beautiful defensive pokecheck to break up the play! Phew.

9:32 PM ET: One minute into the extra period and not a whole helluva lot going on just yet.

9:31 PM ET: Rask will stay in net for Boston for the overtime period.

9:30 PM ET: And we’re going to overtime!

9:28 PM ET: Tuukka Rask in net for Boston with a minute to go in regulation. Thomas looks like he might have hurt his knee or ankle.

9:26 PM ET: Tim Thomas dives for a pass sent by Gionta to Zajac. Wideman deflects it away but Thomas can’t get up. Play is halted as Thomas gets medical attention.

9:24 PM ET: Strong power play by the Bruins. Marty with a stop on a huge blast by Wideman. :40 to go to the PK.

9:23 PM ET: Madden to the box, Bruins on the PP.

9:22 PM ET: It’s funny how loud the Rock can actually be when the fans are into the game.

9:17 PM ET: It counts! Parise? Still so awesome. Sheldon Brookbank gets his first NHL point on the assist.

9:15 PM ET: WHOO! Parise/Elias/Gionta does it again! Brookbank with a shot from the blue line, deflected by Parise to bounce it in basketball-style. They’re reviewing for a high stick.

9:12 PM ET: The Parise/Elias/Gionta line is about the only one doing anything at all tonight for the Devils. Both goals and the majority of the shots have been that line.

9:08 PM ET: Elias with a slow cross-ice pass that gets picked off. This is not the way to win games kids. ‘Bout nine minutes remain.

9:06 PM ET: OKAY, technical issues resolved, live-cap back on. No change in score. Lotsa Devils chances, lotsa Tim Thomas being pretty damn good while we were gone.

8:55 PM ET: Gionta with some speed getting to the loose puck, stoned by Thomas. Thomas is not eligible for my dollar, though.

8:52 PM ET: We be back, period #3 underway.

8:35 PM ET: End of the second period and the score is a slightly more agreeable 3-2 Boston. Seventeen minutes gang. Hurry back.

Clearly proven by this picture.8:34 PM ET: Elias with the beautiful spin move at the boards, passes to Parise and a big-time stop by Thomas. Oh my goodness, I thought that was in.

8:32 PM ET: Elias on his horse for the loose puck, gets a shot away but deflected by Thomas. Hot diggity how things have changed this period. They all want my dollar, it’s blatantly obvious.

8:27 PM ET: WOW what a power play. Just about every second spent in the offensive zone, and finally Parise stuffs it through the five-hole and the Devils are down by one! 3-2 Boston.

8:24 PM ET: Metropolit to the box for an interference, Devils on the PP again.

8:21 PM ET: Tim Thomas with a good play on Travis Zajac’s shot. Poor Travis can’t buy a goal lately. ‘Course if he had my dollar he might be able to…hint, Travis Zajac…hint…

8:18 PM ET: Penalty killed, score remains 3-1. They’re looking much better. A few more goals would go a long way towards proving that, though.

8:16 PM ET: Pelley’s playing on the PK and does a wonderful defensive job. I approve, Pelley. You may earn that dollar yet.

8:15 PM ET: Kobasew and Martin get a little testy with each other. Martin goes away for roughing, Kobasew gets nothing at all. Devils on the kill.

8:12 PM ET: Gio with a shot, Elias with a re-direction and the Devils are on the board! 3-1 Boston.

8:09 PM ET: And power play time over. Golden opportunity, wasted.

8:07 PM ET: Langs with the turnover to Kessel coming out of the box, but Marty flashing the glove. 2 Man Advantage over, one man advantage on.

8:05 PM ET: ‘Nother Bruins penalty, and the Devils go on a…2 MAN ADVANTAGE! Ahh, plugs, how I love thee.

8:03 PM ET: Phil Kessel with the hook, and the Devils are on the power play. You wouldn’t know that by Metropolit’s shot on Marty though. We probably should get the puck to the other end, it’ll increase the possibility of a successful power play.

7:59 PM ET: Second period is on, let’s make it better than the first. Please? I’ll give a dollar to the person who turns this game around! A WHOLE DOLLAR!

7:42 PM ET: And twenty minutes are done. We are still on a seven game winning streak, correct? They’re not playing like it right now.

7:41 PM ET: When Sheldon Brookbank is leading your team in shots-on-goal for the period, things are obviously not going well.

7:38 PM ET: Wideman with a blast on the power play. Marty really should have had that one. 3-0 Bruins. What the hell happened here?

7:37 PM ET: Lost in the excitement of the Jamie Langenbrunner era is the fact that Paul Martin is currently wearing an A.

7:35 PM ET: Zubrus to the box for a questionable interference call at best. Devils on the kill.

7:31 PM ET: FIGHT! Asham V. Reich. Both get in a few good shots, Asham getting the last two shots to take the scrum to the ice and involve the referees. Edge: Asham.Totally the truth.

7:29 PM ET: Pelley with a HUGE open ice hit, sending a Bruin to the ice and said Bruin’s helmet flying.

7:27 PM ET: Ugh. Glen Murray left alone just north of the slot, pops in the one-timer. 2-0 Bruins.

7:21 PM ET: Lotsa chances on Tim Thomas. Which at the moment is doing little more than raise Tim Thomas’ save percentage even more.

7:20 PM ET: Good thing to remember: The Devils have allowed the first goal in three of the last four games, and obviously things have turned out well there, eh?

7:15 PM ET: Blast. Zdeno Chara with a blast from blue line and it’s 1-0 Bruins. Knucklepuck sty-lee, might have been tipped in front. Lame.

7:11 PM ET: You know what I don’t miss? Claude Julian’s goofy look behind the bench. Glad to see he’s doing well, but this is one breakup where both parties are probably MUCH happier.

7:08 PM ET: The puck is in play and the Langenbrunner captaincy era is underway.

No longer just a dream!7:00 PM ET: Fast commercial breaks here in 2MA land, and we have an awser. The answer is, why yes, yes it is indeed true! Mr. Jamie Langenbrunner is the new captain of the New Jersey Devils! Congratulations Langs!

6:58 PM ET: Of course the big news of the night (there’s always big news when I cap. Coincidence? Well, yeah, probably.) is that according to Tom Gulitti, Mr. Jamie Langenbrunner is due to be named captain just about any minute now. Will it be tonight? Stay tuned, after this commercial message!

6:55 PM ET: The Bruins visit The Rock, live-cap coming up!

Hey, quick question Devils fans — is anyone getting FSNY in HD on DirecTV? Tonight was supposed to be when it became available, but it looks like normal old regular TV.

  2. Josh Burnett on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:13 pm

Pookie – I’m still stuck in the land of old-school 1980s-lookin’ TVs, so I have no HD abilities. Hopefully someone can shed some light.

Glad to see ya pokin’ in over here though!

Glad to see ya pokin’ in over here though!

    Glad to be here!

    Glad to be here!

It should be noted I’m especially glad that Paulie Martin has an ‘A’! PaulieMartinNation is ecstatic!

  5. Josh Burnett on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:26 pm

You know, in all my excitement over the beginning of the Langerbrunner era, I didn’t even notice who had the A’s!

  6. Pookie on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:29 pm

I haven’t been able to determine who has the other, but Paulie has one and Patty and Zubie appear to have lost theirs.

  7. Pookie on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:32 pm

You know, if I was getting this is HD, I”d be able to see that other A right now. Even if it’s on Pando’s sweater (where it should be) in the dressing room.

  8. Pookie on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:46 pm

Looks like Madden has the other A. I squinted through my non-HD feed to try to suss out what that extra blur on his sweater meant. (Just kidding!) (About the TV, not about the A.) (That A should be Pando’s.)

  9. Rick K on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:46 pm

mad dog has the other A

  10. Dana B on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:50 pm

Yucky first period. Somethings up with Marty. I’d stick with him for like half of the period to see how he recovers though.

  11. Nick on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:54 pm

Hey all I have been visiting this site for a wile but this is my first post. Im a jersey transplant in Los Angeles!

  12. TP on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 7:58 pm

I think Brodeur is playing fine. The third goal was the only questionable one really, the others were deflected. Not much he can do. Not really an awful first period, we just weren’t quite connecting on our chances and the Bruins were getting them in. I’m not giving up yet, but the Devs need a good goal quick here if they want to stay in this.

  13. Dana B on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:02 pm

    A whole dollar???
Lemme catch a train to newark right now! I’ll turn the game around for a dollar!

  14. Nick on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:06 pm

5 on 3 this is our chance

  15. Shari on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:12 pm

I only see Martin W/the A so I’m assuming it will be going to Pando, Or maybe Johnny O? (kidding, I hope)I can’t blame this one on Marty, they are just not getting the breaks/bounces, but they also are not cramming the crease looking for garbage either. Time will tell. I would have figured Whitey would be wearing the other A instead of Martin, but what do I know I’m obviously not in the locker room, to see what the rest of the Team can see.

  16. Shari on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:13 pm

    Did Patty just tip that?

  17. Nick on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:13 pm

    yey! somewhat

  18. Josh Burnett on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:15 pm

Nick – Welcome to 2MA land!

Shari – I think it’s Madden with the other A for the moment, at least according to Pookie and Rick K earlier in the comments.

  19. Shari on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:16 pm

Oh yes My bad ,Maddog has the other A, gotta Love HD. Oh My did Martin almost get into a scrap? Love the fiestiness of Paulie. Hi Josh Loving the live cap.

  20. Nick on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:29 pm

    sweet!

  21. Josh Burnett on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:30 pm

    Thanks Shari :)

  22. TP on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:40 pm

Alright they’re back in this now. Wish Parise could have snuck in that chance late there with the Elias spin move, but that’s okay. Down by one, going into the third. As long as they carry the energy from the second into the third, I think they might have a shot.

  23. Dana B on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:41 pm

    Say it with me everybody
“Zach Parise is more awesome than you”
ya know it’s true. come on, say it!
dammit josh, i guess patty got your dollar?
    my dreams are crushed =’(

  24. Shari on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:45 pm

Lovin Patty back at center,Who’s with Me? Gomez who? it’s a damn shame that Our Cappy tribute game will be on the crappy non HD TV Guide friggin channell.I miss Pando.

  25. Josh Burnett on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:46 pm

My dollar is still up for grabs. Terms & Conditions apply, and one of the terms/conditions is a victory, naturally.

  26. TP on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 8:51 pm

Kind of a random question but who do you guys think is overall better: Oduya or Brookbank?

I think I’m leaning towards Oduya.

  27. Nick on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 9:20 pm

wow! I just scared a bunch of my co-workers with a bit of a loud celebration

  28. Pookie on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 9:21 pm

    TP, you obviously angered Brookbank!

  29. Nick on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 9:37 pm

    hell yea! nice one boys!

  30. Dana B on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 9:42 pm

8 AGME WINNING STREAK!! AHHH!! did zach have 4 points? again? AMAZING!

  31. Josh Burnett on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 9:46 pm

I’d still lean Oduya for your question, TP, but it’s hard to argue with Brookbank’s production tonight.

Either way, I’m happy! I think Patty gets my dollar…

  32. TP on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 10:20 pm

Well my judgement was obviously a bit early. This is the first time Brookbank has produced like this. I hope he can keep this up. Great game. Exciting finish. Glad we could win won in overtime and not have to deal with another shootout.

I hope we can steamroll the Caps Friday, I want to go all-out on the Rangers.

  33. ki on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 10:32 pm

TP I 2 like Johnny but he is not 2 cluch..that at times worries me

  34. Dana B on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 10:36 pm

I didn’t even notice that Oduya wasn’t playing tonight, that’s obviously huge factor of why we won =p

  35. DevilsTV on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 10:41 pm

where do u get these elias pictures??? great game by him and parise tho!

  36. Patricia Greuter on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 10:46 pm

    I have my ways (=

  37. ki on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 10:58 pm

u guys are very cool i trip on your site at game one of the 8

  38. PatD on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 11:19 pm

I’m sure it’s been said many times but somebody owes Parise and Elias .50 cents each.

  39. Josh Burnett on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 11:22 pm

They will recieve their dollar, to be split any way they choose, in the form of a cashier’s check in six to eight weeks :)

  40. Danny on Wed, 5th Dec 2007 11:43 pm

Of course I fell asleep in the 2nd period mid way through when we were down 3-0 only to wake up after the game only to find out we won 4-3 good for the team bad for me I need to see if i can find a 2nd airing of the game now.

As for Pookie I have FSN in HD but its not through Direct TV it’s Comcast but it’s not callled FSN HD its a Music HD channel MHD and they happen to show every devils game in HD so maybe Direct TV has that too?

  41. Devil Fan in NC on Thu, 6th Dec 2007 9:36 am

So do we start calling the patty, zach, brian line the P-E-G line? Just waiting for Doc to start calling them that.

  42. Devs4Life on Thu, 6th Dec 2007 4:20 pm

Wow, congratulations to Jamie Langenbrunner, he earned it. I only wish he got a point tonight.

  43. TP on Thu, 6th Dec 2007 9:23 pm

Actually, Doc has said “PEG line” a couple times. I remember that a few broadcasts ago, he mentioned that he wasn’t sure if it would catch on but he’d give it a try.

Hey, the “A line” proved a few years back that a fancy name isn’t needed for a kickass line.
