Don't do that again.7:28 PM ET: Dammit. Gomez to Shanahan on the one-timer for the goal. Sigh. Rangers win, 1-0. Devils lose for the first time in ten games, though do earn the point for the overtime loss. So at least it’s still a 10-game point streak? Yeah, I guess it’s not much solace. Thanks for reading everyone, goodnight!

7:27 PM ET: Chico says the Devils would want to win it in overtime because Henrik is so good at shootouts. I think the Devils have made Lundqvist work so little that maybe he’ll be rusty?

7:26 PM ET: BIG blast at the point on Brodeur, Marty with the stop and we’re going to overtime knotted at nothing.

7:24 PM ET: Devils call time. Less than a minute left.

7:21 PM ET: Hoooo man what was close. Huge scrum in front but the puck squibs lose and is cleared by Pelley. Madden out of the box, two minutes to play in regulation.

7:19 PM ET: Crap, Madden to the box for hooking. Devils on the kill.

7:18 PM ET: Hollweg creams Zajac. I don’t like Hollweg.

7:15 PM ET: There’s five minutes left and the score is still tied at nothing. So why exactly is Rupp/Pelley/Asham out there?

7:13 PM ET: Tense…

7:08 PM ET: Great PK for the Devils. Penalty over are we’re still scoreless

7:06 PM ET: Hollweg creams Asham from behind, Asham loses his cool for a second and gets boxed for roughing. Marty with a stellar save in the first few seconds of the penalty kill!

7:05 PM ET: Thankfully Marty is still stellar.

And he sits on players too!7:03 PM ET: Madden AGAIN with the hard-working break, and AGAIN can’t put it home.

7:02 PM ET: Shots are 2-0 Rangers in the third…and we’re seven minutes in.

6:58 PM ET: Lotsa…sound defensive play. Sound defensive play does not make for an very interesting livecap.

6:54 PM ET: Third period underway.

6:35 PM ET: At that be the end of two. 0-0 continues to be the score. Back in seventeen.

6:32 PM ET: Prucha takes a swing on the backhand at a bouncing puck and gets it on net with some velocity, but Brodeur ROBS him with the glove. Pretty as hell glove save Marty!

6:31 PM ET: Penalty over. Good power play for the Devils and, begrudingly, a good defensive show by the Rangers. Damnit.

6:29 PM ET: …but the Rangers clear.

6:28 PM ET: Drury is stickless on the PK.

6:27 PM ET: Unidentified Ranger identified: Paul Mara for holding.

6:26 PM ET: Langenbrunner out of the box, unidentified Ranger into the box. Devils PP.

Silly!6:23 PM ET: It amuses me that White and Greene are a defensive pair tonight. I’m easily amused though.

6:21 PM ET: Langenbrunner with a hit on Giardi. Fans boo. Then ref lifts his hand, and Langs is to the box. Me no likey the delay there.

6:17 PM ET: Should it be any surprise that a game between the Rangers of this year and the Devils of any year is scoreless more than halfway through regulation?

6:16 PM ET: Penalty killed.

6:14 PM ET: Shanahan on an outlet pass gets high sticked. By himself. Seriously. Well Colin White lifted Shanahan’s stick, but high-sticking oneself is not a penalty, so the Devs remain on the regular man-disadvantage.

6:12 PM ET: We need Parise on the breakaway. I grow weary of Madden on the break, it’s just not working tonight…

6:11 PM ET: The call is that Mottau hooked Callahan, who in turn fell into Brodeur. Hense the Devils on the PK.

6:09 PM ET: Marty gets bumped on a Giardi shot from the point, penalty…on the Devils…?

6:04 PM ET: This game is nothing if not exciting. Broken play leads to a Rangers two-on-one, shot wide. This then leads to a Devils odd man rush, with…Paul Martin getting the break and missing the net. Straka breaks his stick and manages to block two Devils point blasts with his body. Penalty over.

6:02 PM ET: Parise eats some ice thanks to Scott Gomez. Has the hating Scott Gomez thing been mentioned much? Two for tripping, Devils PP.

6:00 PM ET: Second period is on and it is I, Mr. Josh, here to take over this livecap, fresh outta retail hell!

5:41 PM ET: Holy ridiculous flurry of last minute chances Batman! Marty adds a couple more saves, Lundqvist does the same. And that’s that. Scoreless after one. Be thankful for that. The Devils looked pretty bad, but at least they finished off quite nicely. Take a breather, eat a sandwich, and come on back. More live-capping goodness with Josh for the second period!

5:40 PM ET:
Clarkson decides to join in the fun too, makes a nice attempt but once again right in front of the goal, though, Henrik’s there for the save.

5:40 PM ET:
Madden and Clarkson skate down for a two-on-one, the Mad Dog can’t get the pass over and is forced to give Henrik an easy save.

5:37 PM ET:
Oh man, Madden looks awesome tonight. Great backchecking going on right now, he’s on Jagr like…you know…the white on the rice.

5:36 PM ET:
Betts tries to jam the puck between the post and pad, Marty says no sale. Scrum ensues. Nothing too significant results, however.
Not at all.

5:30 PM ET: Red ‘n Black seemed to have picked up a bit of energy in the last few minutes. However, as soon as these words come from my fingers, Marty is forced to make another save…which would give him 10 saves on the night already.

5:29 PM ET:
Oh glorious chance!! Madden breaks his stick on the face-off, grabs a new stick and manages to grab the puck as well for a partial breakaway. King Henrik is quick to the task though and makes a nice save on the play.

5:28 PM ET:
More four-on-four play as Rozsival is sent for tripping and Zubrus for diving. Boo.

5:25 PM ET:
Boy, the Blueshirts are sure hitting hard tonight. They’re out for blood. Ha! Hossa attempted to upend Zubbie, who proceeded to flatten the lil’ bugger. At least that was entertaining.

5:24 PM ET:
Thanks for that turnover, Sheldon. The Devils look like butt tonight.

5:22 PM ET:
Jagr is totally skating circles around the Devils defense tonight. Blah.

5:21 PM ET:
Thank you.

5:21 PM ET:
It would be nice to see the Devils clear the zone.

5:20 PM ET:
Marty with another save. Think that’s five or six now already.

5:16 PM ET:
Marty with quite a significantly awesome sprawling save on Straka. Me thinks the Devils thought this game started at 7, not 5 PM.

Boo.5:15 PM ET: Black ‘n Red look a bit scrubby tonight so far. I blame Mike Rupp.

5:14 PM ET:
The Devils did not convert on their six second power play, I’m afraid. Clearly, this means they have a terrible man advantage.

5:13 PM ET:
Oh yikes. The boys are making me a bit nervous right now. Marty saved by a goal post. Whew.

5:11 PM ET:
That certainly did not take long. Dubinsky penalty wipes Brookbank penalty. Four-on-four!

5:10 PM ET:
Booo. Delay of game penalties are the pits. Rangers pee-pee.

5:08 PM ET:
Zach Parise on.

5:07 PM ET:
Game on.

Face.5:01 PM ET: Some shlub named Mike Rupp is in the lineup tonight. Fun times.

4:54 PM ET:
Get ready for a half-and-half live-cap coming up in minutes! I shall be covering the first period (and maybe more) while Josh will take over for parts of the second and third…it’s gonna be good times!

Nice job as always with the capping Patricia. 3-4 icings in one period, definitely very undevilish, if that’s even a word.

I’m liking Clarkson the more and more I see him. After his short stint last yr he could turn into the newest version of Randy Mckay, although it’s too early in his career to tell.

I’m hoping Vishnevski isn’t badly injured…could use his 6′2′ frame and ability to block shots right now!

I normally wouldn’t say something like this, because it sounds really biased. But I honestly think the penalty calls tonight are really crappy from the refs. The call on Langenbrunner was incredibly lame, the hooking call earlier was reeeeally generous, the dive on Zubrus? To me it seemed obvious that he was diving for the puck, not to exaggerate the hooking. Lame calls, in my opinion.

Devils need to score on some of the odd-man-rushes here…

Its a mental game, has nothing to do with a winning streak or loosing. I dont think we played very well but at end we got 1 point and still at the top of Atlantic D. and second in the conference. Look forward to tomorows game.

We looked like we could care less about playing tonight….and thats a problem.
Too many icings, we were out shot, outhit, no body stepped up, we just sat around and let them play their game.
I dont give a sh!t about the 9 game streak, its how we roll over and die when we play the rags that pisses me off.

The most boring Ranger-Devil game in a long time, I think. Some good back-and-forth in the 1st, but after that, a whole bunch of icings and traps, and not much else.

Langenbrunner really is the man. Can we buy him too? There’s no cap, is there?

The worst 1st period ever. We played poorly last night. Were very lucky to get a point. Honestly, Marty in my mind was the only one who showed up.

Need to establish the body early and need to shoot 1000x more than what we’re doing.
