Apparently, there’s a game today.
How out of the loop have I been lately?
Very much, seeing as I am sitting here at 5:30 AM, writing a preview for a game I didn’t even know about with, oh, I don’t know, maybe two hours worth of sleep.
Such a glamorous life I lead, eh?
Alas, there is a game today, and, well, since Mr. Bechtel is unavailable to pre the view (totally made that up), I’ve decided to (potentially) annoy the heck outta the readers with my unconventional (non)journalistic stylings.
Seriously, if the AP put out stuff written like mine, the world would undoubtedly be a better place.
Oh, yeah, game tonight. Sorry, had a bit of a tangent-type-moment. All is well, I’m back on track now.
SERIOUSLY, THERE IS A (SOMEWHAT) TANGIBLE PREVIEW IN HERE…
So, Black ‘n Red appears to be playing the New York Rangers today…err…tonight…or, kinda in betweenish. You know, the game starts at 5 PM. What is that really considered? Evening? Afternoon? Night?
I digress again. Seriously, writing this preview right now probably wasn’t the best idea. I do apologize.
Okay, let’s get serious here then.
The first-place(!!!) Devils skate into Gomez land this evening/afternoon/night with a nine-game winning streak that I would like to affectionately call “The Amazing Streak.” Seriously, who really saw this coming? The boys went from losing like nine straight (extreme exaggeration) to winning nine straight. It’s amazing!
The Rangers, on the other hand, are in the midst of a cloud of blah. You know, giving up lots of goals, King Henrik being pulled, losing three straight and, well, basically not playing all that great. It’s not pretty. Really.
Howevs, the boys in blue have won all three games against the Devils this season, their most recent being a 4-2 win on November 14.
It seems somewhat relevant-yet-very much annoying to point out that some ba-gillionaire named Scott Gomez leads the Blueshirts with 22 points. The little bugger had to, of course, have two assists in the last meeting between the two teams, no less.
I still think he’s stupid.
But, for now, let’s find solace in the fact that the Devils have skated a brilliant 9-1-0 in their last 10 games, while the Rangers have put up a less than threatening 4-5-1 record. Granted, this could easily mean absolutely nothing if the Rangers skate out and obliterate “The Amazing Streak,” but until, or if that even happens, we can still be happy that our record is way more awesome at the moment.
Okay, so what have we established here?
A) I’m borderline nuts. B) The Devils are awesome. C) The Rangers are not. D) 5 PM is a weird time. Aaaand E) Scott Gomez is stupid.
Really, you can’t get much a better preview than that.

I think you should write more previews at 5:30 in the morning. As this was highly entertaining.

This is quite possibly the best game preview I have ever read. EVER.
