So sad.The Devils signed Erik Rasmussen today.

New Jersey, I apologize for having to break such terrible news.

But hey, on the bright side, he was immediately assigned to Lowell.

You know, the Baby Devils couldn’t get much worse anyway, so it may entirely be a moot point.

Massachusetts, I also apologize to you.

I guess that’s what happens when you lose to the Islanders like seven thousand times within the span of, oh, I dunno, half a season.

I still say conspiracy, by the way.

Speaking of the Baby Devils, I went to a game against Springfield (farm team for the Edmonton Oilers) last week with my brother. Your boy Bergfors looked good, as well as that new guy Noah Clark. Matvichuk got smashed into the boards (I’m pretty sure at least… don’t have instant replay in the Tsongas) and quickly skated out nursing his left arm. Never came back in the rest of the game. Jordan Parise, Mike Pandolfo, and Stephen Gionta didn’t play. I was disappointed too as I wanted to see the younger Pandolfo in action, otherwise Jordan hasn’t impressed me between the pipes. On the other hand, Stephen is developing, although he isn’t nearly as good as his brother (although that may have changed as I haven’t seen him play since last season). He’s got the trademarked speed and has a good shot though. New guy Trevor Kell is looking real good, as well as Vrana and Tallackson (they called Barry up for the Islanders game.. bluh). Finally, Grant Marshall (you remember him, right?) was there to keep everything together. Matter of fact, there were people at the game who didn’t realize that Grant won a cup with the Devils.

Do you wonder why they suck? Nobody on the team can cycle the puck well and Frank Doyle, while a good goalie, can’t seem to keep pucks out of the net during shootouts. Well, at least that night anyway.

Maybe this will light a fire under Parise’s butt?

“Hey Zach, if you don’t start scoring, we’ve got a young man waiting in the wings…perhaps you’ve heard of him…ERIC RASMUSSEN! He’s gunning for your job, boy.”

    That’ll scare Zach straight…
