Fifth Time’s A Charm…?

My oh my, is it time to play the Rangers again already? I can hardly contain myself.

You see, normally I would be excited about this type of metro match up, but with the Devils recent track record against their closest neighbors I’m, well, not. Not like facing a well-rested Henrik Lundqvist is going to shine any light on the situation, but what are you gonna do?

I’m sorry, is that too much pessimism before dinner? My bad. Do accept my apologies. I gotta admit, I do feel quite spoiled complaining about four straight losses to the Rangers when Ranger fans had to sit through for straight years of losses to New Jersey. Ok, I got my shot in, I’m done!

The Rangers are stupid. It’s just that I’ve grown a little tired of watching the Devils completely fall on their faces not just against the Rangers, but in most situations of great importance this season. I truly believe that this Devils team has what it takes to get the job done more often than not, yet for some reason or another, that’s just not how it’s been working out. At least as of late.

Through four meetings this season, the dominance has been all on the Rangers side of the score sheet. The Devils haven’t been able to muster much against them, with the exception of two loser-points they managed to steal, both times in Madison Square Garden. Me no likey.

Start doing stuff. Now.For tonight’s showdown, the Devils are expecting to have Captain Jamie Langenbrunner back in the lineup. He recently missed some action due to that lovely flu bug that has been running around, and has most recently met up with me. Although it would be lovely to have Langs back for tonight, my main focus will be on Brian Gionta and Zach Parise. These guys need to find the back of the net, and pronto. The team is once again struggling to score goals and having two of your biggest go-to guys in bad slumps isn’t exactly helping the case. Brian and Zach, you need to step it up, big time.

On the positive side of things, the Rangers actually did the Devils a favor last night when they shutout the Flyers 4-0. With the Atlantic Division standings sitting the way they do right now, the Devils could actually re-capture sole possession of first place with a far-fetched win tonight. Should they lose, the Rangers will be one itty-bitty point behind Black ‘N Red. (dun dun dunnnndramaticreverb) For those of you who are wondering, that would not, in fact, be good.

Well, why fret and worry when the action will unfold however it pleases? Because I’m a Devils fan, and that’s what we do.

You know what else Devils fans do? They keep it tuned to 2MA for more notes and blurbs as the night goes on. Stick around, should hopefully will be fun.

I wish someone would just walk up to the devils and slap them after they play the rangers. No words just walk up, stare them in the eyes and slap them upside the head. The kind of slap that simply says “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!??!”

we are free points for the rags.

    We suck ….period
I’m Tired of “solid efforts”, we need goals.
Lou has got to break open his freekin wallet and get talent…instead of letting talent walk.
its just like 1994 again, Ranger fans all over the place, they are starting to take over our home. Our house is no advantage at all, no matter who we play.
Sutter is on my shitlist to.

Yeah and great news for us, I’m reading in the paper today Guliti says Forsberg will most likely end up on….the Flyers/Rangers/or Penguins……..how’s that for a positive outlook on our finish.

Why would you be tired of solid efforts? If anything I was more pissed after the Montreal game because of the lack of effort they had throughout.

I’m just tired of not scoring goals and frustrated about the 0-10. Nothing you can do about it unless the forwards and D magically morph into being a NHL offense.
