So, this season didn’t quite pan out the way we hoped for, but hey, can’t win ‘em all, right?
Okay, it would have been nice for at least one win at home, but I digress…
Alas, Josh, Steve, Scott, Joe, and I would like to thank each and every reader for another great year here at 2 Man Advantage. Each of you have fueled our passion for writing, and despite our team’s shortcomings this season, we are proud of Black ‘n Red.
Stay with us this offseason, we will be coming at you with the latest Devils news and notes throughout the entire summer. Oh, and it’s entirely possible that we have a few more tricks up our sleeves, so be sure to keep a watch out for more contests and reader participation!
Liked what we had to offer this season? Shoot us a comment or e-mail, thank the boys (and maybe me!) for our work this year. We work hard for you because you know what? We are just like you — passionate fans who bleed black and red through and through.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our (broken) hearts!

Thanks for the great blog guys. It was a fun and enjoyable supplement to the season.

We thank you too, it’s always entertaining reading here!
Not really too long an offseason (for the fans) though, between the draft and UFA there’s almost no offseason in sports news anymore.

Don’t go too far away Matt, we’re gonna be around all offseason. It may be leaner times, but we’ll have free agency coverage and opinions, draft coverage and analysis, and who knows what else.

Hey devils fans…I buried a Sean Avery jersey in the foundation of the Pru center as it was being built…..3 home losses……hmmmmmmmmm

I wonder if Marty will go into the hall of fame under the best diver and biggest sore loser categories!

Well it was a blast this year
not that we expected much (and shame it’s over as I feel I am getting a niche back I’ve not had since before the lockout)
and I’m sure it will be back roaring away as ever come next October
least now for the summer it’s hockey 4 times a week (though a nice goof 2MA live-cap of that would be a hoot :p)
and then back to 209 next year!!
I’ll even bang out my season/playoffs in review this week, just to “I told ya’s so” again with Oduya

This site is always enjoyable to read. I don’t get why they’re have to be total assholes when we win. Whatever. One round isn’t what I expect.
Good job with your fun insights. Hope to see ya around!

Ever since I first checked out this site it’s been great. All the bloggers are hilarious and entertaining, and the pictures are great.
Look forward to an interesting offseason and whatever next season will bring.

Thanks for the insight and humor. The Devils lost the series because their defensive coverage in front of thier own net was aweful. Colin White I am looking at you! Wade Redden is unrestricted. I wonder what it would cost? we also need a top six forward who can score 25 goals. Now the Devs are out, I must say the Pens are going to win the cup and Malkin will win the Con Smyth!!

1) Yes, reletively new reader here, but have enjoyed the team coverage.
2) From a non-Devils fan perspective the thing the Devils need to do most this offseason is decide if Weekes is good enough to start more than 3-4 games. For the second consectutive year Marty looked, well un-Brodeur like in the post season.
3) He probably should be playing 70+ regular season games. If Weekes isn’t good enough to play 15-20 games then they need to find someone who can.

Whitey was never a shut down guy. He’s a good #2 or #3 d-man. Redden would be a good pickup, but I’d take any unrestricted shut-down d-man with a heavy shot, and if we dust Greene, Rachunek, Vishy and Brookbank, maybe we have enough room bring one in. Adding that guy, that would put us at 6 d-men looking like this:
New Guy - Mattau
Salvador - Oduya
Martin - White
I like that corps.
On offense, I think we have enough shooters to increase our GF avg with a couple of playmaking centermen. Zach, Patty, Gio and Langs can all score, but they have to get in front of the net more and score some rebound goals (actually hitting the net more would help too guys). Posting up in front was all Gio did a couple years ago and he broke the Devs’ scoring record. If we add a couple of key guys:
Gio - Awesome Center - Patty
Zach - Good Center - Jamie
Pando - Madden - Clarkson
Zubrus - Rupp - Zajak
Yes, that’s right, Sarge. I love ya, but you need to retire now. And Asham, sorry, you never did fit. Travis, you sucked this year. Down to the crash line with you.
And do you think next season we could get Marty some rest with Weekesy on the team? What happened to that great plan, anyway?
April 21st, 2008 at 3:23 pm
After a couple of minutes research, I can’t find a decent centerman on the UFA list that, in my mind, would actually consider moving. Smolinski? Metropolit? Michael Peca??? Um, no thanks…
This changes my thought process…
What would we give up for, say, a Marian Hossa? How about Miro Satan? C’mon, how can Satan not play for the Devils?
Zajak can have his spot on the second line back. Asham can stay if he can up his game. Sorry Sarge, you’re still too old.
BTW, we need to sign Salvador, Mottau and Pando, pronto. Enough of this waiting til the last minute.

I fully endorse Satan-to-New-Jersey, because I want that jersey still.
Ultimately, I think he’d be a massive disappointment (seeing as he’s a huge disappointment right now, and most free agent signings coming here become huger disappointments, thus equalling massive disappointment.)
But still, Satan Devils jersey. They’d make a killing.
April 22nd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
I would totally buy a Satan Devils’ jersey.
Get on it Vanderbeek. There’s a maketing opportunity on the loose…
On other playoff notes, what’s your take on the classless, destructive celebration in Montreal? What’s up with the Habs fans? I’ve been to the Bell Centre and had a great time. Those Habs fans really know how to do up an hockey game.
But burning cop cars in Montreal because you beat the B’s? Didn’t the Habs win their season series with the B’s 8-0? WTF? I could understand relief that they didn’t blow such a slam dunk series, but burning cop cars after a win is soooo Detroit, not Montreal.
Get your class back Habs fans.

Dear 2ma,
Thanks for being the best blog ever. We had our highs and lows this year, but none of it would have been the same without you guys.
